This project was one of my first with my highly anticipated and long awaited Cricut expression 2. And let's just say...I'm in love and there are many projects to follow. I used the word collage cartridge and the kiss cut on black satin vinyl. For the base I used a scrap of furniture grade plywood (only because I had it lying around already...you could use a canvas). I painted it with a couple different shades of craft paint to get some depth. After it dried well I trimmed the edges with black satin ribbon thatI glued in place using the glue gun.
I goofed decided to change the word layout which made this project a little more difficult than it should have been. I did this for two reasons. One, I was not aware that I needed a piece of vinyl to transfer the lettering onto my board. And two, I wanted it to be one of a kind. (Really, I did!)
If I had the transfer vinyl I could have basically just peeled the backing off and stuck it on...easy, peasy! But since I did not I had to peel each letter and stick individually all while keeping each letter strait and level! All I can say is, if you do a subway art project with your Cricut "get the transfer vinyl". Your life will be much simpler and you won't want to pull your hair out!

Looks great!
